The Infrastructure - Server and Storage team has a broad business focus which is split between two key functions. Firstly they facilitate off-the-shelf hardware sales working with resellers who know exactly what they want (or have been able to identify a pre-packaged product with a little help from Ingram Micro). The second business focus is value-added sales where the team's Solutions Architects, pre-sales and Market Development Managers get more involved in assisting resellers to select exactly the right product and/or solution to meet the end-user's needs. These are very often large scale, high risk, projects that require in depth expertise for accurate scoping and quoting. The Server Quote Desk get involved across both sides of the team's business, making sure that the most cost effective quote is delivered no matter how large, or small, the order.
Vendor relationships and promotions are very important to this team. They work very closely with just two vendors - HP and IBM - both of whom are regarded as the as the premier brands in this area. It is a focus to stay ahead of all the new innovations that are being offered. The new Ingram Micro Discovery Centre provides a rare opportunity for large scale server networks to be observed, tested, demonstrated, and made available for training - both internally and externally.
